Therapists, nurses, and healthcare team members in long-term care and other related settings have most likely provided treatment for dementia in the elderly.  They may have also participated in various forms of dementia programs, to include screening, evaluating, and addressing the functional needs of people with dementia. This course expounds on the steps to implement a dementia program at a whole new level, including the expertise and experience of the full interprofessional team. Practical steps are provided for all team members including nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, social work, activities, dietary, physician, and family members. Lists and charts are shared of the unique factors related to assessment which results in the most optimal care practices and the best plan to support each person's preferences with meaningful tasks for their own unique interests and level of function.
